Feeding the Birds
In the spring, we planted sunflower seeds in the earth-filled container outside the bedroom window. I dutifully poured six liters of water on the seeds every day. We didn’t really have any expectations, so we were stunned to see they were actually growing – fast.
By the time it was summer, the sunflowers were huge, looking down on us from the other side of the window.
Though the month-long trip we took, meant no drinks for the sunflowers, and thus nullified our efforts, we still enjoy the huge dead flowers in autumn. Why? Somehow, the seeds survived and the birdies love them. I spy on them from behind the half-tinted window and enjoy their antics.
